Majestic Eskimo launch Lanark bands venue

YOUNG up-and-coming bands usually have to take a trip into Glasgow to play gigs – but one Lanark club manager is determined to change that.

Images nightclub manager Alex Johnstone is inviting new bands, and more established acts from the Clydesdale area, to try out the venue – and avoid the usual train journey into the city.

The re-launched band nights are set to get their first outing on August 3 when Forth three-piece Majestic Eskimo take to the Images stage.

Alex said: “There is so much talent in this area but there is not a lot of venues around the Lanark area for local bands to get started and to play regularly.

“Not everyone wants, or is able, to go into Glasgow or Edinburgh and hear live music so we would like to bring some of that here and have local bands playing in front of good, local crowds.

“It’s not just people in Lanark who are crying out for this but people all over Clydesdale.”
