Morning Light on Port Charlotteby Mel Leiper

I holiday regularly on Islay and on this occasion rented a cottage in January very close to this viewpoint.

As the village faces East a peep out of the cottage window around 7am told me all I needed to know about the light quality.

We had just had a week of gales so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the light over the village.

I used a Canon 7D with a 17-40 L lens on settings of f11 @1/5 second with ISO of 100 and focal length of 40mm.
