Ones for the future

A DOUBLE bill of hotly-tipped bands are set to showcase their promise at the Garage on Saturday.

The Good Natured and Imagine Dragons will co-headline the Sauchiehall Street venue in a much-anticipated show.

The Good Natured spent most of 2012 working hard on their debut album, the first fruit of which will be 5-HT, a collaboration with experimental pop maverick Richard X.

Sarah McIntosh, who sings and plays keyboard for the synthpop outfit, told Scene: “5-HT is serotonin, a chemical receptor released within the human body.

“The song explores the contrast between love and pain, and the notion that love is a drug.”

What once began as solo project morphed into a proper band, where together they have developed a distinctive sound and image.

Sarah continued: “Our songs are all about bringing dark emotions to a pop place.

“I originally met George at the University of Westminster on a music course and began a band. However the pressures of university took its toll.

“I just got really busy with writing and I thought I could either be here and go to lectures or I could learn first hand about the industry and writing, so just did that.”
Their passion for playing live feeds into the music they make, with choruses tailored for wide open spaces.

In fact, such is Sarah’s passion for playing live that during a gig in Liverpool, she broke her leg, which lead to their headline slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury becoming a unique event, with the singer hobbling around in a bright pink plaster cast — but still delivering songs with pure venom.

Such is their burgeoning reputation as a live act, they’ve been asked to support a hugely diverse range of acts — from The Kills and Aluna George, to Oh Land and US tearaway Ke$ha.
Sharing the bill are Las Vegas four piece Imagine Dragons, who have had an astonishing rise to prominence in the last year.

With more than 30 million plus views on their YouTube videos and their tracks appearing in worldwide advertising campaigns for Assassins Creed III and Xbox, 2013 is set to be the year when Imagine Dragons become the global phenomenon their US story suggests.

Working with Grammy award-winning producer Alex Da Kid, Night Visions combines arms-in-the-air rock choruses with hip-hop sensibilities — a winning formula that translates into an electrifying live show.
