You can help grow the East Ren Station Growers Group

If you are looking to meet new people, learn something new, share your own knowledge, improve your community and improve habitats for wildlife, then this group could be for you.

The Station Growers Group in East Renfrewshire is looking for new people to join.

The group welcomes anyone of any age or gardening ability.

The members are a varied bunch of local people who get together as a way to meet new people, whilst doing something make the area’s train stations more beautiful.

Together, the group looks after the planting at Busby, Giffnock, Muirend, Thornliebank and Williamwood train stations.

Group member Lorri Smyth said: “Some of the group know lots about gardening, others know very little! We’re as much about growing friendships as we are about growing plants.

“We arrange visits to the stations that fit around our jobs, studies and care commitments. It’s all very flexible and there is no specific time commitment necessary.

“All the tools and plants you might you need to get growing are provided for free. If you have any mobility or dexterity issues, we can provide you with access to tools that make gardening easier for you.”
