Playing games is devilishly hard to give up

WHAT would you pay for power, fame and fortune?

That’s the question at the Citz this week, as the southside theatre tackles Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus.

The mythical tale of man’s insatiable thirst for power has been given a modern day twist by the theatre’s current artistic director, Dominic Hill.

Faustus is more than willing to go to extreme lengths to make his name.

After forging a pact with the devil, he becomes a globe-trotting magician at the beck and call of celebrities — but the arts he performs are decidedly black, and the price of fame might just be too high...

Kevin Trainor plays the doctor, with Siobhan Redmond as Mephistopheles, and both actors and show were met with critical acclaim when
they opened south of the border.

n Doctor Faustus runs April 5-27. Tickets are £8-£19, available from www.citz.co.uk.
