Cogito Pop — £84.90 from amazon.co.uk: the Cogito Pop is the ‘non-geeky’ smartwatch option, available in a variety of hues and perfect for fashionistas. It doesn’t try to overwhelm you with too much information, it just offers a peek into your digital life via on-screen icons that light up when something’s going on with your smartphone. It’s water resistant to ten metres too.

Stone me

Pebble Smartwatch -— £130 from mobilefun.co.uk: this offers immediate access to all information from your smartphone, delivered in clever detail on the electronic paper styled screen. Buttons on the side also give you the power to take/reject calls without even thinking about going into your pocket/bag. There are loads of downloadable faces for this watch too, so you can have yourself a different daily look.

Sony Smartwatch 2 — £149.99 from currys.co.uk: another device that offers up email, text and caller numbers at a glance, Sony’s second crack at this sector improves on their first but there’s still no iOS compatibility (Android users should rejoice). Available in a number of different styles, this watch somehow feels like the ‘grown-up one’.

On and on

LG G Watch — £149.95 from currys.co.uk: this South Korean outfit might not shout as often or as loudly as their fellow electronics giants, they just let their products do all the talking instead. This ingenious watch screen is ‘Always On’, so you don’t even need to bother tapping it to access your information (email, text, caller info and calendar alert) — you can control it by your voice though, thanks to a pretty intuitive voice recognition system.

No kidding

Vtech Kiddizoom Smart Watch — £39.99 from smythstoys.com: this 8-in-1 watch for children provides endless fun, from taking photos and playing games to telling the time and voice recording. There are over 50 clock face designs for personalisation, which should keep even the most restless kids happy. The storage is huge too; there’s enough space for about 900 photos or 15 minutes of video; that’ll keep them busy then.

The perfect fit

Huawei Talkband B1 — £99.99 from expansys.com: this hybrid of fitness tracker and Bluetooth headset is the only one of its kind. The central part of the band offers the basic time and battery info, tracks sleep and other health data and syncs it with a fitness app, then also pops out when there’s an incoming call and acts as a Bluetooth headset — really rather nifty. Oh, and it has six-day battery power.
