The event has been growing steadily over the past few years and the clear skies meant that amateur astronomers, guided by Clydesdale Astronomical Society members, were out in force to catch a glimpse of the stars.

They certainly got more than they bargained for as they saw not only stars, which were two and a quarter million light years away, but also the largest planet in the Solar System, Jupiter, and its four main principal moons.
