Sweet reassurance given to Carluke’s R & W Scott

CARLUKE’S famous ‘jeely works’ , R & W Scott, is NOT threatened by its parent company’s huge legal battle over the price of sugar which turned very bitter indeed this week.

Reassurances on the Clyde Street factory’s future have been given by its managing director John Easton after its parent company’s war with Britain’s biggest sugar producer hotted up.

“There will be no impact from this on R & W Scott in Carluke,” said John, adding that, not only was he confident of the future of the 140-year-old business, but it had actually recently taken on more employees, bringing its workforce up to 70.
