They called it Donny love

BACK in the 70s the name Osmond set many a (mainly female) heart a-flutter.

The main interest for young girls back then was Donny, and his toothy grin stared down from many a bedroom wall.

Then along came the only girl in the singing entourage, Marie.

All of a sudden, boys were taking notice of the name Osmond and, for a few years, the
Mormon family were the toast of the planet.

Now heartthrobs Donny and Marie have made a comeback.

The singing siblings are set to appear at the SECC on Friday (February 1) and it will no doubt be the perfect excuse for many fans to dust down their spangly costumes and see if they still fit.

Listen out for the hits of yesteryear: Puppy Love, Paper Roses, Love Me For A Reason and Crazy Horses.

Collectively, the duo have recorded more than 70 albums, topping the charts with multiple gold and platinum recordings.

Now they’re touring to celebrate five decades in the business.

It may no longer be Puppy Love the audience offers the siblings, but I’m sure it no less genuine.

Tickets for the SECC show start at £40 - contact 0844 395 4000 for more info.
