Unprecedented wins for Wishaw District BB band

WISHAW and District Brigade Band, of which 4th Carluke Boys’ Brigade and 1st Carluke Girls’ Brigade are members, set an unprecedented record in the annual Scottish BB Band Contest at Motherwell.

They entered the Novice Class with a compilation of the Great Escape, Pokarekare Ana and the Battle Hymn of the Republic. After a stunning performance, the judges unanimously placed them first.

Novice winners are invited to play up into the Open Contest Class as a courtesy, so the Band eagerly accepted. A second stellar performance beat all other entrants. This was unprecedented. Never before has a Novice Band won both Novice and Open classes.

The band then took second place in the Overall Championship,

To celebrate, the band will give a concert in Kirkton Church, on June 7.
