What’s on this weekend?

DESPITE many people jetting off on their summer holidays there are still plenty of exciting events in Clydesdale this weekend to keep you busy.

Top of the bill this weekend is Live at New Lanark which will see a whole host of bands and singers showing off their talents all afternoon and into the evening.

It may not be as big as T in the Park or The Wickerman but every musical taste, from traditonal Scottish to Ska, is catered for.

The gala season continues with the villages of Douglas, Carnwath and Carstairs taking centre stage.

Members of Blackwood & Kirkmuirhill Pensioners Association and Carwood WRI will enjoy their trips to Ayr and Alnwick Gardens respectively while members of Crawford and Elvanfoot WRI will host a family coffee morning in Crawford Village Hall from 11am to 2pm.

On Sunday, Biggar Ramblers will set off bright and early from the Corn Exchange for a six mile walk around Dunsyre and West Linton.

Cartsairs Village Week will be rounded off by the gents five-a-side football tournament on the village green from 2pm while in the evening the budding stars from Lanark Panto Club Juniors will host an enrolment evening for its October production of Baltic, a Lanarkian spin on Disney’s Frozen.

The event, in Lanark Memorial Hall, runs from 5pm to 7pm.
