100 happy returns for great great gran
MRS Ellen Steele celebrated a milestone birthday recently with a visit from the deputy lord lieutenant of Renfrewshire.
Ellen — who was born in Clarkston and moved to Newton Mearns 75 years ago after marrying husband Robert — received a card from the Queen in recognition of her 100th birthday.
Mother-of-three Mrs Steele now has eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She celebrated the day with a family party, also attended by her 94-year-old brother and 91-year-old sister.
