Foals and older Clydesdale horses were displayed to hundreds of spectators, to ‘stirrup’ plenty of entertainment at Lanark Agricultural Centre on Saturday, October 25.

Main organiser, show secretary John Zawadzki, was delighted with the contest.

John said: “There was a very good turnout and the committee was very pleased with the standard of animals on show and the number of spectators who attended.

“The public enjoyed seeing just under 40 animals being washed up and prepared for the show before being paraded.

“This was the 75th staging of the show and it was very successful.”

Judge Hugh Ramsay waxed lyrical at the high standard of entry on the day.

He was most impressed by filly foal Collessie Jennifer – bred and owned by Ladybank’s Ron Black – which was named overall show champion.

A total of seven classes were judged.

Lanark Agricultural Centre will also be the venue for Clydesdale Horse Society’s Winter Fair on Saturday, November 22.

“There will be classes for all ages of Clydesdales at that,” John added.
