A dream come true for happy couple

A southside couple have said a big thank you to family, friends and readers of The Extra for helping them to win a fairytale wedding.

Chris Dickinson (35) and fiancee Melodie (30) have been hitting the campaign trail hard in hope of bagging a wedding package worth £28,000 from the We Fell in Love bridal blog.

And whether it was Chris’s stint in a wedding dress at the Merchant City Festival or appearing in their local paper, the Shawlands couple collected enough votes to win a magical winter wedding at Hopetoun House, South Queensferry, on November 20.

Chris told The Extra: “November 20 is the big day, and Mel is busy planning away. We’re meeting suppliers this week and have to write a weekly blog about how we’re getting on, so it’s all go!

“We both wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped us win our dream wedding.”

The prize includes a wedding at the historic house for 160 guests, a couture wedding dress and accessories, Champagne breakfast, suites for the bridal party and for the groom, cake, flowers and more.

Chris, who works with adults with disabilities, went to St Ninian’s High and lived in Clarkston before moving to Shawlands with Australian-born Melodie.

And it’s a true southside love story for the soon-to-be Dickinsons, as the couple met through friends at Cartha Rugby Club.
