A fair swap? Clyde Valley apples for cider

Clyde Cider was a hit at the Clyde Valley Fruit Day last week and now the producer is seeking help – or more specifically apples – from readers to make more!

And those donating apples will get a free sample of the fine craft cider.

“We need your support and your apples!” said the Cider Man John Hancox.

And he said of the ap-peel: “We are doing it on an apple amnesty basis, offering cider as a thank you for apple donations.

“We are keen to exchange lovely Glasgow and Clyde apples for bottles of cider. Apple donors (issued with an apple donor card - useful in an emergency) can also get a discount.“

Profits from the cider will be used to encourage more community orchards to be planted with Scottish heritage apple trees and, as his stall at the Fruit Day proclaimed, to make Scotland Fruitful.

John is based in Glasgow, but hopes to arrange a local pick-up point in the Clyde Valley to collect the apples.
