A Kirkintilloch character
The funeral of well loved local Kirkintilloch character Dan Cooper, otherwise known as Petticoat Dan because of his fondness for wearing women's clothes.
Dan was an odd job man and would often be seen with the tools of his trade, a solid wheelbarrow and a big shovel. People just accepted Dan, even though he had a predilection for women’s clothing and he would often be seen doing odd jobs for people like shovelling coal and collecting manure from the streets which he sold to gardeners.
Many people attended his funeral in the Old Aisle Cemetery in 1913. Much has been written on him.
