A song and dance for Yom Hatzmaout

Residents at Westacres Care Home in Newton Mearns joined rabbi Mendel Jacobs in celebrating Yom Hatzmaout recently.

Residents Lily Wise and Morris Shapiro celebrate with Rabbi Jacobs and Newark Care staff and volunteers.

The party — celebrating Isreael’s Indepedence Day — included the singing of Israeli songs, and videos of Israeli choirs and bands were screened alongside footage from previous Yom Hatzmaout celebrations from Israel.

A similar party was held at Burnfield Care Home in Giffnock, where Rabbi Jacobs is also chaplain.

The care home is now on the lookout for volunteers for a charity car wash on May 25 — call 616 5100 for more info.
