A special guest to the garden

READER Andy Lawrence got I touch to tell us about an unusual visitor to his garden on Langside Avenue, last month.

It is a female sparrowhawk which, he says, is an infrequent guest in his garden and this is the first time he’s been lucky enough to grab a snap.

Not so lucky was the sparrowhawk’s prey: a pigeon it was feeding on — as the feathers between its beak betrays.

Andy said: “Just shows the diverse wildlife we are fortunate enough to have in an urban environment.”
