A73 from Hyndford Bridge to close for roadworks

A local stretch of the A73 will be closed for up to 10 days for resurfacing from Monday, August 8.

South Lanarkshire Council will be carrying out the work on the road from Hyndford Bridge to the A73’s junction with the A702 at the Duneaton Roundabout.

A council spokesman said: “An alternative route, which will be clearly signposted, will be via the A70, B7078, A702 and A73, or vice versa, depending on the direction vehicles are travelling.”

Added chair of the council’s roads committee, Councillor Chris Thompson: “These works are essential to improve the condition of the road at this location.

“Unfortunately, it cannot be done without some disruption to road users, and we apologise for that.

“We would advise people to avoid the area if at all possible, or if not, to try and ensure they allow themselves extra time for their journey.”

Meanwhile, resurfacing work continues on the stretch of the A721 Carnwath Road from Harelaw Roundabout to Craigenhill Road, Kilncadzow, until Friday, August 5 with an alternative route via the A721, A73 and A706.
