All good fun at Carstairs Junction Gala Day

Those who took part in Carstairs Junction Gala Day on Saturday had a great time – but organisers were disappointed by the fancy dress numbers.

Led by Colinton and Currie Pipe Band, the parade left from the hall and went round Carstairs Junction. The crowning then took place on grassland at the back of the hall, a change to the venue but which proved popular.

This year’s gala queen Emma Stokes was crowned by Betty Hamilton, the school cleaner who is well-loved by the children.
