Anniversary celebrations for Gurdwara

The southside Sikh community gathered on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of the Glasgow Gurdwara in Pollokshields.

The event was open to the whole community, and included guided tours of the purpose-built gurdwara, dance and martial arts performances, children’s entertainment and a reading of the Sikh scriptures, Guru Granth Sahib.

Those celebrating the first year — during which 35,000 visitors passed through the Gurdwara doors — included deputy first minister Nicola Sturgeon and Cathcart MSP James Dornan.

@GlasgowGurdwara tweeted: “Amazing celebration for our anniversary! Thank you!”
