Another outstanding Carluke Gala Day

FROM the beats of Brazil to the Wild West, this year’s Carluke Gala had it all.

A superb procession was followed by the crowning of Gala Queen Caoimhe Rea in Market Square by this year’s Crowning Lady Barbara Mackie.

With over 20 entries in this year’s procession, there was always going to be plenty of colour around Carluke despite the overcast conditions.

Crawforddyke Primary’s Rootin Tootin Rodeo, complete with mechanical bull, was certainly a highlight alongside its nursery entry Tee Pee Terrors.

It was definitely a day for heroes as Braidwood Primary certainly provided that its Super Heroes Save The Planet with everyone from Superman and Batman there.

Aileen Hogg, from Braidwood Primary’s Parent Council, said: “The kids didn’t need any encouragement to dress up as super heroes; it was their idea.

“It has taken a lot of time to get it together but it has definitely been worth it.”

Kirkton Primary’s entry, Kirk-a-lot, was a throwback to the days of Camelot with Kings, Queens, jesters and knights together while Kirkton Toddlers Candyland float was definitely very sweet.

There were also plenty of stars from the big and small screen with Riverside Nursery’s Despicable Me, complete with minions; Carluke Lifestyles’ Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Carluke Opera’s Hairspray and the great High Mill Primary Bake-Off.

Other highlights included St Athanasius Primary’s Carnival in Rio, Dominoes by Carluke Primary, Noah’s Ark by Calvary Carluke Christian Fellowship, Tippy Toe Tots entry Circus, Carluke Lifestyles Toddlers Pirates and Princesses and Boogie Nights by Carluke Young Farmers.

See this week’s Carluke Gazette for plenty of pictures from the 2015 Carluke Gala.
