In the New Year Music in Lanark have Tyde, Scottish folk with contemporary edge; a return visit from the magically gifted Yehudi Menuhin School Ensemble; an evening of Hebridean melodies set to vintage movies of life in the islands; and the Tunnell Trust Award-winning Ferio Saxophone Quartet.

“We hope that music lovers in Clydesdale will be as excited as we are by the programme, and that people will sign up for a Series Ticket - all nine concerts for just £75 via our website www.musicinlanark.co.uk,” said Jamie Hill, the group’s chairman.

That Series Ticket also gives a discount of 50 per cent for Biggar music concerts.

Individual concert tickets are £12.50, or £1 for those of school age. These are also available on-line, or they can be purchased in person or by phone (01555 667999) from Lanark Memorial Hall Box Office.

The first concert is this Saturday, August 22, at 7.45pm in The Institute, New Lanark.

“We have been fortunate to have enthusiastic support from the local community both in terms of funding and of audience appreciation,” said Jamie.

“If you haven’t been to a MiL concert, now’s the time to come and experience quality live entertainment on your doorstep.

“If you have been before, we look forward to welcoming you back.

“Why not make it a night of celebration with a pre-concert menu at the New Lanark Mill Hotel?”
