Appeal after woman subjected to “terrifying” sexual assault near train station

Detectives are appealing for information after a woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault in Glasgow City Centre on Friday night.

A 24-year-old woman was walking near to Glasgow Central Station around midnight when she was approached by a man.

The brute assaulted her in a nearby lane before making off in an unknown direction.

He is described as white, between 25 and 30 years old, slim with short dark hair and wearing blue jeans.

Detective Inspector Graeme McLachlan said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the young woman and she has been left traumatised by what happened.

“Our officers are currently working with her to establish exactly where the incident occurred however we understand that it was in a lane near to Central Station.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the surrounding area around midnight on the Friday and who saw or heard anything suspicious to get in touch.
