Appeal after young woman assaulted and robbed

Police are appealing for help after a young woman was assaulted and robbed.

The 20-year-old was approached by a man who dragged her to the ground and assaulted her before stealing her mobile phone.

The incident happened around 11pm at Kelvin Way in Glasgow’s west end on Sunday, October 16.

Officers said she did not require medical treatment but has been left badly shaken.

Enquiries carried out so far have revealed the suspect may have had an accomplice, who was also male, and was standing with a bicycle.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to obtain additional information on the incident and the suspects.

Following the incident the suspects made off north on Kelvin Way.

The first man is described as white, around 5ft 8 inches in height, with a gaunt appearance, a large nose, and bushy eyebrows. There is currently no information on the second man.

Detective Constable Alan Watt from the Community Investigation Unit, based at Govan, said: “A young woman has been left badly shaken by this attack and it’s crucial we speak to anyone who may have seen what happened. I’m appealing for people who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.

“In particular, we would like to trace a man who was in a small black car, parked on Kelvin Way around that time and I would urge this man to contact us as he may have information which could assist our investigation and help us trace those responsible.”
