Appeal for witnesses after motorcyclist seriously injured

The police are appealing for witnesses following a road accident in Killearn.

It happened around 5pm yesterday (Monday, July 18) on the A809, just south of the junction with the B834 at Finnich Toll, Killearn.

A 43-year-old man was traveling south on his Suzuki motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Passat car that was heading north.

The motorcyclist sustained significant injuries to his head and chest and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

He remains in a serious condition.

Road Policing Officers closed the road for approximately eight hours while they carried out an investigation at the scene.

Anyone who can assist with their ongoing inquiries is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Ruth Aitchison from the Road Policing Unit in Stirling said: “The motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries as a result of this collision and we are currently working to establish exactly what happened during this incident.

“Anyone who was on the A809 on Monday evening and believes they have information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
