Applications open for East Ren education grants

An Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is available to some as an incentive to stay in eduction after the age of 16.

Applications are now open for term-time payments of £30 a week, and the closing date is September 30.

Those eligible — pupils from households with an income of £20,351 or less, or from a family with a household income of £22,403 and more than one dependent child — will then have payments backdated to August.

Awards are made on an annual basis, so those who received the grant last year must apply again.
