£5,000 grants available for animal rehoming centres

Animal re-homing organisations in East Dunbartonshire can now apply for financial support from the UK's largest grant giving animal charity, Support Adoption For Pets, under its new grant 2016 scheme.

Support Adoption For Pets has recently revamped its grants programme, which now allows any charity that re-homes animals to apply for the £50,000 Award, the Wishlist Award or the Helping Paws Award .

For larger organisations, Support Adoption For Pets will award two £50,000 grants for rescues looking to carry out a large capital project. This can include refurbishment work on animal accommodation, building of new accommodation and vet centres.

The Wishlist Award enables charities to purchase much-needed items to keep the pets in their care happy and comfortable. Rescues can submit a wish list of items that would enable them to kit out their pet enclosures, purchase agility equipment or provide their fostering network with new items.

The Helping Paws Award is open to rescues which need essential equipment to support them with the day to day running of their rescue. The grant is to be used on items that have a direct impact on the welfare of the animals, such as industrial washing machines and microchips.

Amy Wilson, charity manager at Support Adoption For Pets said: “We’re excited to introduce an exciting new grant scheme. The tiered structure means that throughout the year there should be a grant relevant to every re-homing rescue in the country, big and small.”

Amy added: “We want to appeal to as many rescues as possible in offering financial aid as every re-homing centre is hugely worthwhile, particularly in its local area.”
