Art attack at Glenwood nursery

END of term celebrations were an arty affair at Glenwood nursery, as kids, staff and parents gathered to see the facility’s latest feature.

The Thornliebank nursery unveiled new garden artwork — all thanks to the hard work of pupils from St Ninian’s high school.

The sixth year pupils — all studying advanced higher art — spent the year working with the nursery children and parents, drawing up plans for an outdoor
space.

The result of the green-themed project is four panels, each using a different material to represent one of the four seasons.

Glenwood’s head teacher Karin Gilhooly (retiring this term after 23 years of service at the nursery) explained: “Outdoor learning is a big part of the daily curriculum for children and staff at Glenwood.

“The garden looks wonderful and a lot of hard work has gone into it.

“We recorded the seasons using a variety of media and stimuli and we have worked throughout the year with the children, indoors and
out.”

Glenwood pupils and staff were joined by parents for an evening unveiling as term drew to a close, and the occasion was marked with ice lollies all round.
