Shining stars of enterprise and innovation across East Dunbartonshire have been honoured at a special awards ceremony.

The inaugural East Dunbartonshire Business Awards shone a spotlight on the great work taking place locally in firms and enterprises across a variety of sectors.

The awards evening - held at The Eagle Lodge in Bishopbriggs - was a way of paying tribute to the leading lights helping to provide prosperity and employment locally.

Ten awards were handed out, while there was warm praise for every nominee - all of which were commended for their inspiration, innovation and determination.

Exchange Communications Ltd was crowned Business of the Year, while a host of firms also picked up prestigious awards.

Large Employer of the Year was Dieselec Thistle Generators Ltd.

Start-up Business of the Year went to Events Ecosse.

The People Development Award was taken by Exchange Communications Ltd.

Best Use of E-Commerce by a Business went to Able 2 Wear Ltd.

Independent Retailer of the Year was won by Caulders Garden Centres.

Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Business of the Year was taken by P&R Randev.

Social Enterprise of the Year went to Silver Birch (Scotland) Ltd.

Young Business Person of the Year was Laura Grant, of TAG Digital.

Growth Business of the Year title went to Golden Charter Ltd.

The award sponsors were Aldermore, Exchange Communications, East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action, Business Gateway, Eagle Lodge and East Dunbartonshire Council. The Milngavie Herald Series was media sponsor. It wasn’t just businesses who were winners - funds were raised for charities through a raffle and auction.

A total of £7,000 was raised and local good causes who will benefit will be announced soon.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie thanked everyone for their generous contributions.
