Bank staff help OLM kids to make a difference

Our Lady of the Missions Primary welcomed an eco helping hand from local Bank of Scotland staff recently.

The company’s Day to Make a Difference involves staff getting a day off work to help in the community.

And so BoS colleagues arranged with OLM teacher Maureen Cummings to spend theirs doing odd jobs around the school, as directed by young environmentalists on the eco committee.

Stephen Moody, a mortgage and protection adviser and OLM dad, told The Extra: “With help from Mrs Commungs and the children on the eco committee, we planted fruit trees around the playground, did a general tidy up of the chestnut garden which was looking a bit worse for wear after the high winds of winter, and dug up an allotment space provided by the council for the children to plant potatoes.

“It was a great experience — thankfully the weather was kind to us and the school were delighted in what we managed to achieve in one day.”
