Bearsden funeral planners team up with Poppy Appeal

Bearsden-based funeral planners Golden Charter has teamed up with The Royal British Legion and its sister organisation, Poppyscotland, to raise funds for the Armed Forces community.

The company, which is owned by a national association of independent funeral directors, has arranged for a £25 donation to be made to the charities for every Golden Charter funeral plan sold via the company’s website and through participating independent funeral directors.

Boss Ronnie Wayte, said: “Supporting The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland, and through them the Armed Forces, is important to many of us at Golden Charter, our network of independent funeral directors and, indeed, our customers.

“This partnership comes at an excellent time, allowing us to make an important mark on this year’s Poppy Appeal. Over the next three months we will be making our connection to The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland clear, as we work together to raise as much money for the Armed Forces community as possible.”

Nicola Tallett, Interim director of Fundraising at The Royal British Legion, added: ”We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Golden Charter. The funeral business is all about appropriate commemoration of our loved ones who have passed. We hope that through our partnership over the coming years, we will continue to help keep alive the memory of the fallen in our Armed Forces community, and importantly support the future of the living.”

Stuart Lang, Corporate Fundraiser at Poppyscotland, said: “We are delighted to be working with Golden Charter. Whilst our origins are inextricably linked with Remembrance, this partnership will help us to continue our vital work in supporting current members of the Armed Forces community who are affected by the consequences of their service.”
