Beth’s mascot is a real winner at Glasgow Games

A mascot dreamed up by a Lenzie schoolgirl has proved to be one of the biggest hits of the Commonwealth Games.

Lenzie Academy pupil Beth Gilmour won a competition to design the official mascot of Glasgow 2014 after coming up with Clyde the thistle.

Now organisers have revealed that cuddly Clyde is their number one product.

And more than 45,000 Clyde dolls have been since July, with prices ranging from £8 to £100.

The Gmaes mascot also features on t-shirts and key rings.
