Biggar company Calzeat head to Brazil

SCOTLAND’S soccer stars won’t be there but there will be Scottish representation at next year’s World Cup in Brazil - including one Biggar textile company.

Representatives from Calzeat will join three other Scottish textile companies on a trade mission to Sao Paulo in April.

And the Biggar textile company hopes that its interior designs will then adorn new hotel rooms and stadia at the World Cup and at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The project is creating big news back in Brazil - as freelance interior designer Maria Cavalcanti and O Globo News anchor Ana Aber swapped the Carnival of Rio for a chilly February morning in Clydesdale.

And, if everything goes according to plan, it seems like Calzeat and the other Scottish companies will be taking the place of Darren Fletcher, Scott Brown, Allan McGregor and Co at the world’s biggest football tournament next year.
