William Burns (55), from Paisley, is accused of attempting to murder Ross Sherlock (34) near St Helen’s Primary, in Dornoch Place, at around 3.10pm on September 24.

Mr Sherlock is understood to have been in the process of picking his daughter up from school at the time of the alleged attack.

Prosecutors claim he acted with another man and that the incident was “aggravated” by organised crime.

Court papers allege that Mr Burns “with face partially masked, did present a handgun at him and repeatedly discharge said handgun striking him on the body to his injury and to the danger of life”.

The accused made no plea or declaration during an appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear in court again next week for a full committal hearing.
