Stuart (25) couldn’t believe it when he received an email from Commonwealth Games organisers to say that he had been chosen.

And although he isn’t sure yet where he will be carrying it in June, Stuart, who lives in Carluke, was delighted to be chosen.

He said: “I got an email from the organisers but it was just blank so I wasn’t sure exactly what it was for.

“Thankfully, I got another email later that night saying there had been a technical problem and that I had been selected.

“I will find out four weeks before the day where and when I will be carrying the baton. I’m excited about it already.”

Stuart was chosen due to his love of sport, overcoming challenges in his life and volunteering in the community.
