Boat named in memory of popular councillor

A much-loved councillor has been fondly remembered with a special new boat carrying his name.

Caurnie Angling Club, who lease Antermony Loch beside Milton of Campsie, decided to name the new Wheelyboat for wheelchair users, Charles Kennedy, to pay tribute to all the support he gave them over the years.

It was recently launched by Charles’ relatives. Councillor Kennedy’s sister, Agnes Dempsey, has also had two benches made with a plaque in his memory, which will be placed at the loch.

Mrs Dempsey said: “It was a beautiful tribute. Charles spent many happy days down at the loch, he loved it there.”
