Body of missing woman found in Pollok Park

A woman whose unexplained disappearance sparked a major police hunt and emotional family appeals has been found dead in Pollok Park.

Mother of three Janet McQueen, 58, went missing from her home in Govanhill on Tuesday, October 18, leaving behind her pet dog , mobile phone and bank card.

Regular appeals for information failed to yield any clue about her whereabouts, leaving relatives distraught with worry.

Door to door enquiries and extensive searches of back courts in the area around her home also drew a blank.

Now police have confirmed that a body recovered from the White Cart Water in Pollok Park on Sunday afternoon last week has been formally identified as Janet’s.

A police spokesperson said: “There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
