Police are appealing for information following the attempted robbery.

DC Gary Lipscombe of Wishaw CID said: “Thankfully, neither member of staff were injured, but it was very upsetting for them to experience.

“The suspect is described as about 6ft in height, of slim build, and wearing a dark coloured tracksuit with a green scarf covering his face.

“Officers have spoken to those who were in the bookies at the time and are checking CCTV in the area.

“However, we need to speak to anyone who was either in the shop, but left prior to police arrival or who was in the area and maybe saw the car and the suspect before or after the incident to come forward.”

Anyone with information can contact officers at Wishaw CID via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.
