Braving the rain for a big lunch with neighbours

Wet weather couldn’t dampen spirits at the St Vincent and St Louise joint Big Lunch barbecue at the weekend.

The Thornliebank churches held their third annual event, bringing the community together for a meal — whatever the weather.

John Tierney, chair of the Parish Pastoral Council, said: “It’s an important opportunity to strengthen the community in Thornliebank by bringing old and young together, working together to support each other.

“We’re grateful to all those who came to support us, and to local businesses like Dominos, who were so supportive of this community event.”

Vice chair Savio D’Souza added: “Hopefully next year’s event will have better luck with the weather — what are the odds of rain three years in a row in Glasgow!”
