Brexit a huge worry for local people, says MP

The after-effect of Brexit was one of the top concerns expressed by people during a walkabout in Kirkintilloch town centre by East Dunbartonshire MP John Nicolson.

As part of the final push for the SNP’s National Survey, Mr Nicolson asked local people their opinions on issues facing Scotland at the moment.

He said that the most common concern he heard was about Scotland’s situation following Brexit.

The local MP insisted Scotland’s unequivocal vote to stay in the European Union must be respected. He reiterated his support for the single market and for maintaining strong links with the EU.

Mr Nicolson said: “I want to hear the concerns of local people on Brexit.

East Dunbartonshire returned one of the biggest ‘Remain in the EU’ votes in the country and I am determined to argue my constituents’ case at Westminster.

“Scotland must not be dragged out of the EU against our will.”
