Bridge crash leaves driver facing a hefty repair bill

Allen Jennings was just coming off the bridge at Crosshill Road, near Lenzie, when the other vehicle collided with his car.

But when Allen (28) pulled over to talk to the driver, he and other motorists had driven off. He has now been left with a costly repair bill for the damage to his car, which includes the tyre, wheel, suspension and dents.

Allen, from Lenzie, is appealing for anyone with information on the accident, which took place on Monday, January 6, at around 6.25pm to contact Kirkintilloch Police.

He said: “I was the third car in a line of four making my way over the bridge when this elderly driver came up from the outside and crashed into the side of my car. I pulled up and got out the car to find the driver and the other cars just drove away.”

Allen has criticised the lack of warning and safety measures on the approach to the bridge, where there have been a numbr of accidents.

Alex Ramsay, from North Lanarkshire Council, said: “There is signage on both sides of the bridge advising drivers of the hazard ahead.

“We will contact East Dunbartonshire Council to investigate if we can take any further measures to improve safety at this location.”
