Cable thieves spark train chaos

Rush hour trains between Glasgow Queen Street and many west coast stations – including Bishopbriggs and Lenzie – faced “severe” disription after reckless criminals tried to loot cables used for signalling.

The attempted theft happened between Croy and Falkirk station, causing a back-up of trains during the busiest period of the morning.

Scotrail has advised rail travellers to check the current status of trains at JourneyCheck.com/ScotRail

It expects normal services to resume around 1pm today.
