The baton arrived in Cumbernauld yesterday (June 23) and will visit East Ren on July 16.

The relay event arrives in East Ren on July 16, and councillor Paul O’Kane is looking to give the route some colour, hoping schools and clubs will join him in designing flags to line the streets on the big day.

The Newton Mearns North, Neilston and Uplawmoor councillor said: “I want to make sure that the talent and creativity of our children is represented on the big day, when a lot of eyes will be on East Renfrewshire. It’s a massive day for the community and the Games will be huge for East Ren, with us neighbouring Glasgow.”
