Calzeat helps Don Lennox with record bid

BIGGAR textile company Calzeat is used to its unique designs being on the catwalk – not on the roadside.

However, in March next year the firm, in partnership with Glenisla Kilts in Motherwell, will be helping Bellshill ironman Don Lennox in his bid to break the world record for running from one coast of America to the other.

Don (43) will be running from San Francisco in the west to New York in the east – wearing a specially designed Calzeat kilt.

He will be wearing the Celtic knot design as he bids to run an unbelievable 78 miles a day and break the current record by crossing the country in less than 45 days – all in aid of Help for Heroes and Wounded Warriors (in America).

Calzeat sales director Bob Galbraith said: "Don is a great guy and it's fantastic for us that he is going to be attempting this in one of our kilts. It's a heavyweight woollen kilt so its unbelievable what he is trying to do."

Don said: "I met Bob through a friend and I told him about what I was thinking of doing and he thought it would be great to be involved.

"I haven't been out running in it yet but it will certainly be a new experience."
