Carluke and Lanark Gazette: your compact broadsheet!

FIRSTLY, I’d personally like to thank everyone who has taken the time to write to me with their suggestions on how to improve the Carluke and Lanark Gazette.

We have taken a lot of these views on board – including feedback that our readers would find it easier if we were slightly less broad!

Therefore, next week’s paper will be, like our adverts say, easier to pick up.

However, thanks to new features and the same hard-hitting news you have come to expect, it will also be harder to put down.

They say the best things come in small packages – I guess my mum would at just 4ft 10in – but we believe it will ring true when you open up next week’s paper.

So what can you expect? In response to direct reader feedback, we have included a more indepth entertainments section, boasting a what’s on of events across Lanarkshire as well as a cinema guide.

We’ve also included a new puzzle section to keep our readers happy...I can’t believe how many people requested that particular feature!

Given our readers love of all things nostalgia, the Gazette will also boast a nostalgia page every week – please send us your old snaps if you would like them to be featured.

We also want to receive snaps from amateurs who have caught our area in all its glory. These pictures will be featured both in our contents page and our letters page...so we look forward to receiving your contributions!

I’m not going to give everything away here. I want you to be curious enough to go out and get a copy of your new-look Gazette next week.

Don’t miss it when it hits the streets next Wednesday, May 8!

JULIE CURRIE,

Editor
