Carluke Post Office will close for a week

USERS of Carluke Post Office face a week of upheaval.

The High Street office will be closed between January 11 and January 18 for a major upgrade.

Carluke Community Council chairman Alistair Mackie voiced his concerns at the imminent closure, which could see customers having to travel to Law or Crossford to access a local Post Office branch.

He said: “This closure will be a great inconvenience to the people of Carluke, many of whom won’t have transport to get to the other Post Offices.

“A week without the main Post Office will be very difficult.”

Alistair (73) said that the stream of pensioners usually seen queuing outside the Post Office on Mondays to collect their pensions could be particularly badly affected.
