Carluke young farmer wins top award

Carluke Young Farmers Club had the first of their split meeting last week with the girls enjoying a trip to Bellahouston Park where they went snow tubing, a great night was enjoyed by everyone.

The boys are going go karting this week.

The club congratulates Jamie Gibson who was placed first at SAYFC livescot stockjudging at the weekend and to Allan Lindsay who was placed 1st in the junior section.

Well done also to the two junior speech making teams who competed at the west region competition on Sunday with the teams being placed 6th and 8th; the pink team progress to national so good luck to them.

And congratulations also go to the quiz team who were placed a fantastic 2nd at the west region competition, which was held alongside the junior speech making

Some dates to remember for the new year: Carluke Young Farmers’ annual variety concert will be held in Motherwell concert hall on January 14, 15 and 16; keep the dates free to come along!.

Applications are now open for the 2016 Agri and Rural Affairs Study Trip which will be in New Zealand.

It will look at how farming businesses there are modelled to allow young people to get a start in the industry. The trip will last two weeks, in November/December next year, and it is open to any member of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs who is 18 or older.
