Carluke’s Big Pink Day raises £8,300

IT has been a great start to the New Year for Carluke charity campaigners as it was announced that more than £8,000 was raised at the town’s recent Big Pink Day.

Over 20 local businesses took part in the day in the event, organised by local fundraiser Gill Murray, and there can be little argument that the day was anything other than an unqualified success.

As well as Gill’s main fundraiser in Kirkton Church Hall which was filled with a variety of different stalls for people to enjoy there were plenty of fundraising initiatives including cut price pizzas and suppers from Alfie’s Fish Bar and Pizzeria.

Gill said: “This event was about the whole community pulling together to help fund Cancer Research UK’s vital research into breast cancer.”

Gill, along with Rowan Main from Cancer Research, recently met with local supporter Marie Goulding to celebrate the support from Gouldings Garden Centre to the Big Pink Day.
