Co-operative Funeralcare in Carluke High Street is accepting donations for the charity Support Our Soldiers, which will send out parcels – filled with items like chocolate eggs – in time for Easter.

Jean Ward, funeral organiser at the Carluke Co-operative branch, said: “Everyone loves getting a letter or a box through the post and the soldiers in Afghanistan will be no different.

“They will be working in difficult conditions over there, so receiving shoeboxes filled with goodies at Easter time will provide a great boost to their morale.

“Gazette readers have been brilliant in supporting our previous shoebox appeals. I would ask them to again donate generously.

“Their support is greatly appreciated.”
